Quick update for everyone: The site is back, but it’s a little lighter than before.
I recently had to scrub the site to remove a virus. The cleaning process was actually a success—the malware is completely gone. However, due to a mistake on my end (and a missing backup file I thought I had), the final step of the cleanup wiped the database.
What this means for you:
- Recent Posts: Content from the last 6 months is permanently lost.
- All the charts which i was using are lost – Around 15+ Charts are gone
- Around another 12 posts are lost
- Totalling to around 30-35 posts of mine are gone forever. But a glimpse of them remains in my mind. Hoping to revive them in a better manner
- Archives: I have recovered what I could from older backups. (really were not that useful)
- Moving Forward: I am rebuilding from scratch.
I’m looking at this as a fresh start. If there is a particular guide or post from the last few months that you are missing, drop a comment or send me a message. I’ll prioritize rewriting the content that was most useful to you.
Fun fact:
I did this on new year’s evening. So actually it is indeed a NEW YEAR for my site with fresh content to start.
Measures Taken
- From now on, Application Firewall is enabled with login attempts and 2FA
- Regular backups are scheduled in a separate server so that there is data redundancy
